Manchester Swing Dance Society
October 4 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Hello, and welcome to Swing Soc! We are based in the University of Manchester and we welcome everyone!
WHAT IS IT
Swing Dancing is a group of different dances. We primarily do the Lindy Hop which is a partnered (improvised) social dance, dating back to the great Swing Era of the 20s, 30s and 40s in the USA. It developed among the African American community – most famously in Harlem – and was danced to the big bands of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and others.
We normally hold lessons in the Dance Studio of the SU.
Sometimes the venue may change so make sure to check the Facebook event first!
Our fortnightly social, Tipple Step, runs every other Sunday in Revolution Oxford Road. It is completely free and we get food and drinks discounts!
